Winning of Technology awards in “6th Invention to Innovation Summit’
Office for Research,Innovation and Commercialiaztion (ORIC) for the first time managed two stalls in “6th Invention to Innovation Summit” held at Punjab University ( Quaid-e-Azam Campus) Lahore from 8th -9th March 2017.The event was hosted by Punjab University and Institute of Research Promotion (IRP) and University of Management and Technology. Students from departments of Biotechnology, Computer Science and Zoology presented their projects on stalls.The stalls were visited by Federal Minister of Planning and Development, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Vice Chancellor Punjab University,Rector and Director General of UMT, Chairman LCCI and large number of students, faculty members and industry professionals. All visitors took keen interest in the products and appreciaaed the efforts of all these departments. There were three catagoriess of awards. Bitechnology students won 7th Technology Award on svirus free products under the title of , “Production of Virus free plants through Micropropagation”.
The project was supervised by Professor Dr. Shagufta Naz and Dr.Saiqa Ilyas,Dr.Neelama Munir of Biotechnology. PhD students, Ms.Madiha Gillani and Aysha Younus shared their knowledge to all visitors. Computer Science students of BSCS won Technology Award by getting 4th position for poster competition. The said award was given on project entitled, “Udtaa Punjab: A Robotic Simulation Environment for Crop Field” supervised by Dr. Maria Anjum and Co-supervised by Dr. Mariam Rehman and Dr. Atif Mehdi. Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Rukhsana Kausar has congratulated the award winning students, their supervisors and Heads of Departments for this ac hievemnet and appreciated the efforts of ORIC in showcasing the inventions of students
