Invitation for International Conference on Health, Harmony and Wellbeing (ICHHW)

14-16 November, 2017

The Department of Applied Psychology, Lahore College for Women University, is very pleased to share with you that we are organizing an International Conference on Health, Harmony and Wellbeing which will be held from 14th -16th November 2017 Inshaa Allah. The conference has a broad focus as it brings together the areas and concerns of Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Political and Peace Psychology and Positive Psychology among others to address all aspects of holistic health, wellbeing and harmony at individual, group and international level, including indigenous findings and global understandings.


Proposed Subthemes:

  1. Health and wellbeing across the lifespan  (children, adolescents, young, middle and older adults)
  2. Health and wellbeing of women
  3. Global peace (Conflict and conflict resolution, diversity and tolerance, violence, racial, interfaith and intercultural harmony)
  4. Harmonious relationships (familial harmony, marital adjustment, harmony at the workplace, group dynamics, effective leadership, attachment, parenting)
  5. Positive Psychology (The power of positive emotions, correlates of subjective wellbeing,  positive traits and states, human strengths)
  6. Psychological health and psychopathology
  7. Counseling and therapy: Traditional, contemporary and emerging approaches.
  8. Indigenous work on theory building, methodological innovation and scale development, translation and adaptation in the domain of health, harmony and wellbeing.
  9.  Stress and coping
  10. Ecopsychology/Environmental Psychology (Connectedness with nature, sustainable lifestyles)
  11. Religion and spirituality in the context of health, harmony and wellbeing
  12. Chronic and acute illnesses (quality of life, posttraumatic growth, caregiving).
  13. Issues of access to health care, health care system and policy.
  14. Disaster management and disaster relief, humanitarian work, rescue and anti-war effort.

We would be honored and delighted to have your participation in the conference. You are requested to send abstracts NO later than June 30th, 2017.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission (oral presentations, poster presentations, & workshops):

  • For empirical research articles APA format will be followed. Length of abstract should be between 150 to 200 words with 4-5 keywords.
  • Format for qualitative research abstracts is flexible.
  • All abstracts should be sent to ichhw2017@gmail.comlatest by 30th, June, 2017. The details of the author or presenter in a form of cover letter including following information should also be provided in given order:

Presenter/author name, institution, email id, presentation title and departmental affiliation.


Guidelines for Submission of Power Point Presentation (Oral):

  • PPTs to include rationale, objectives, hypotheses, method(s) and results of the study.
  • Time for each Presentation will be 8-10 minutes followed by short questions/answer at the end of the session.


Guidelines for Submission of Posters

  • Label indicating (a) title of paper and (b) the author(s) should be included at the top of the poster.
  • Copy of abstract (150-200 words), in large typescript, is to be posted in the upper left-hand corner of the poster board, along with names of the author and institutional affiliation.
  • Poster should clearly indicate these sections; Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Tables & Figures and Conclusions.
  • Poster will be displayed at the conference venue.
  • Poster dimensions: Height: 200 cm, Width: 90 cm
  • Presenters have to be present with their posters at designated time.
  • Draft posters are to be submitted at least 7 days before the conference to the poster organizing team to avoid any inconvenience.


Invitations for Pre-Conference Workshops


Pre conference workshop proposals are invited. Interested resource persons are required to submit proposals in plain text or PDF, by email and these must include the following elements:

  • Title and acronym of the workshop
  • Level of the workshop
  • Duration (full-day or half-day)
  • Description of the workshop topic, and a draft version  (not exceeding 500 words)
  • Short bio-note of the resource person/s
  • Tentative program
  • Contact information of the resource person/s (including name, affiliation, mailing address, and e-mail address)
  • Number of participants
  • Logistic support required
