 Three-day conference on 'Emerging Issues in Management Sciences' - Day-3 Summary

Lahore College for Women University’s three day conference ‘Emerging Issues in Management Sciences’ concluded successfully. Guest list is as follows:

Guest speakers highlighted increasing issues in the field of Management Sciences, solution, and their significance in the society.

   

Dr. Hassan Mubeen (Principal Hailey College of Commerce) threw light on new challenges to the field of Management. He said that conference is a place where intellectual people gather to share their expertise on a specific issue. It is a platform for question answer session on a specific field of knowledge. He praised the management of the conference and said such academic events play pivotal role in creating awareness among students regarding emerging issues in their in their relevant discipline. He further congratulated the young faculty of Management and Public administration department on becoming pioneer in arranging an international conference.

Dr. Maryam Wasif, Incharge Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, greeted honorable guests and other participants. She said that such academic events are mandatory platform for students where they not only can express their theoretical knowledge but also get a chance to meet national and international speakers and it undoubtedly enhances their learning. She also gave her thoughts on CPEC and said it’s a game change for the current government.

Dr. Tahira Mughal (Controller Examination, LCWU) insisted on the fact that the students must be prepared to meet the new challenges in order to bring improvement in their respective fields.

Dr. Maryam Wasif distributed certificates and souvenirs to guests and participants and termed this three-day conference as a milestone in the field of Management.

Ms. Rabia asif and Ms. Sobia Hassan Incharge Department of Management Sciences and Public Administration respectively, thanked everyone on their ending speech for the facilitation in making this event successful.

The ceremony ended with serving of Hi-tea to the guests and participants.

 

 Three-day conference on 'Emerging Issues in Management Sciences' - Day-2 Summary

Lahore College for Women University’s Department of Management Sciences and Public Administration organized a three-day conference namely ‘Emerging Issues in Management Sciences.2nd Day of conference proceedings started with the recitation of Holy Quran at Student service centre, LCWU. Lists of key notes speakers goes as follows;

  • Prof. Dr. Ehsan Malik (University of Punjab, Lahore)
  • Mr. Hassan Qudrat Ullah (York University, Canada)
  • Dr. Anwar Shah (Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad)
  • Dr. Fayyaz (University of Engineering and technology)
  • Mr. Rehmat Ullah Javed (Chairman, SAARC business promotion committee)

Dr. Eshan Mailk started the conference proceedings and shed some light on the field of management. He emphasized on building strong linkages between academia and industry. This can solve many emerging issues of the field of management.

Dr. Hassan Qudrat Ullah from York University, Canada brought the topic of decision issues in the field of management. He said that resource constraint is a major issue while making a decision and best decision makers are those who can make better decisions out of limited resources.

Dr. Anwar Shah discussed the importance of CPEC and how Pakistan can get maximum benefit from this bilateral project. He insisted that CPEC will not only change Pakistan’s scenario in the region but also central Asian landlocked countries are also going to get benefit from it. He related CPEC with game theory in which Pakistan can be in a win win situation.

 Dr. Fayyaz from UET, Lahore discussed the development plan of SME’s alongside the route of CPEC. He also said that local industry will be protected after the implementation of CPEC. He also discussed the importance of 3D printing technology in Pakistan and how it benefit various industries.

Morning sessions of paper presentation started at Student service centre and IT conference hall parallel, one under the chair of Dr. Ehsan Mailk and other by Dr. Fayyaz.

 Three-day conference on 'Emerging Issues in Management Sciences' - Day 1 Summary Report

Lahore College for Women University's Department of Management Sciences and Public Administration organized a three-day conference namely 'Emerging Issues in Management Sciences'. Opening ceremony was hosted in 'Royal Palm Gof & Country Club' where local as well as foreign participants, guests and speakers were present. List of guests is as following;

Official of LCWU also attended the event. Dr.Mariam Wasif (Incharge Dean Management Science and Public Administration) welcomed Worthy Vice Chancellor and honorable guests at the event.

Worthy Vice Chancellor Dr. Uzma Qureshi welcomed all he guests and participants in her speech. Vice Chancellor said that management is a constantly evolving field with a wide variety of formal and informal approaches and perspectives and the key objective of this conference  is to exchange views on how best to meet these management challenges and to find ways to contribute more in managing the emerging trends.

Provinicial Minister of Education, Mr. Raza Ali Gillani addressed the participants and said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, higer education is being focused particulary on women empowerment as they constitute half of the population and country’s development is possible only be grooming them. He further added that this conference is a great platform for the awareness of management issues. While talking about CPEC, Mr. Raza Gillani called CPEC as a game change in the region and gave credit of the project to the sitting government. Mr. Liu Chen Sheng addressed the participants and emphasized on the importance of CPEC which is not only vital for Pakistan but for the region as a whole and it will give new meaning to trade in the region.  During the Panel discussion on CPEC, Hafiz Zafar Ahmad termed CPEC as a plan which will not only build a web of roads and railway tracks but will gurantee abundant job openings as well. Ms Shazia Suleman and Mr. Rehmat Ullah Javed were also part of panel on CPEC and gave their thoughts on the said project. Mr. Raza Ali Gillani and Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi Vice Chancellor distributed souvenirs to the guests and the event ended with serving of Lunch.

Highlights of the day: discussion at conference were importance of CPEC in the region and friendship of China and Pakistan.
