Ms. Shifa Ali, Clinical Dietician Ittefaq Hospital, gave tips to the students on what kind of diet could provide them the right nutrition and how junk food could cause serious health issues in their later lives too.

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, MNA, praised the efforts of the university to organize an event on such an important issue. She mentioned that it was very important to have such seminars in women universities because women were an integral part of family to train the significance of the food safety and hygiene among the other members of family. Moreover, she mentioned that government was taking serious actions to promote the safety and healthy lifestyle but such initiatives were not worthy until or unless the efforts were going to be made on individual level.

Mr. Noor Ul Amin Mengal, DG PFA, discussed the efforts made by the PFA to make Punjab a healthy and safe Province. Moreover, he mentioned three things were very important for any country to run smoothly and keep stable. “The first thing is food security. The second is economic activity and the third is food safety. The burden of diseases can be overcome if we control food safety issues,” DG PFA elaborated.

Dr Shagufta Naz said in the note of thanks that safe food was also a component of health sector. So, LCWU organized this seminar to highlight the significance of food safety.

Earlier poster competition, cooking competition and food model competition regarding the importance of food safety were also being organized. Students from various departments of university participated enthusiastically in all the competitions.
