Department of City and Regional Planning

Mission

CRP Department at LCWU considers women’s role in development as envisioned in Global Agenda 21 which was core work product from the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992 which was reaffirmed in Rio +20 (2012) by the United National Conference on Sustainable Development in the outcome document, "The Future We Want". The logo of the department is “Our Common Future: The Future we want”.
The department aims to provide qualified city and regional planners having expertise in remote sensing/ GIS, city planning, rural development, disaster management, estate management, hazard mapping, linking urban poverty with water and sanitation indices, policy formulation and designing of socially inclusive cities for physically challenged, visually impaired and elderly citizens for their barrier free mobility. The department offers action based research projects with a motive to contribute towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with case studies for real contribution to the betterment of the society.
It is also under consideration that part of the program/internship will be conducted in some international partner institutions in Japan, Germany and UK etc. with the collaboration of International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISoCaRP), Netherlands, with full / partial scholarships. The graduates of our department are highly skilled city and regional planners with expertise to design productive cities meeting the challenge of youth employment and job creation for creative cities.
