BS Education (4 Years Program)

B.S. Program in Education offers a wide range of courses addressing the demands of competent and effective teachers and leaders in educational institutions both in public and private sectors. The program is designed to meet multiple needs of students intending to pursue careers in the field of education and development as planners, managers, science and arts teachers, assessment and evaluation experts, researchers, development workers, teacher educators, curriculum developers and related professions. Challenging curricula with a variety of teaching learning methodologies and conducive academic environment are unique features of the program. Usually a huge number of educated women are forced to adopt teaching profession due to socio cultural constraints related to family obligations. Therefore, the program aims at producing motivated, competent school teachers with dignity. The program, particularly, addresses the issue of the shortage of women science and arts teachers at school level.

Objectives

The main objectives of B.S. (four year degree) program are to produce teachers and educational managers who are:

  1. Competent and effective science and arts teachers equipped with adequate content knowledge and ability to understand the role of culture in promoting ethical, moral values and human rights having creative approach.
  2. Able to undertake efficient classroom assessment and evaluation to ensure adequate levels of student’s achievement through healthy competition
  3. Trained in innovative teaching methods, research techniques and courses addressing global challenges.
  4. Competent in management (including finance), policy decision making, planning and innovative problem solving approaches.

PhD

The department of Education has been established by the LCWU with the vision to improve education practice in Pakistan. The department takes its strength from diverse research interests and extensive field experience of its predominantly foreign qualified faculty. The departments are also a hub of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of young faculty members who are provided both in-house and external training and professional development opportunities to improve their professional knowledge and skills. All programs offered by the department are designed to promote research and scholarship on par international practices in the field.
