Lahore College for Women University established the Department of Electronic Engineering in 2001 with a vision to provide best possible engineering education to the female students. In the year 2011, the department was renamed as department of Electrical Engineering with two areas of specialization i.e. Electronics and Telecom. Over the last few years more than 200 students have graduated and most of our graduates are holding responsible positions in the industrial, educational and multinational organizations. The Department started 4-years B.Sc. program in 2001 and 4-years Bachelor of electronics engineering program in 2004.
Department successfully obtained accreditation with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 and ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2006. International Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE) student branch is approved and established in Electrical Engineering Department LCWU.
The Department has well equipped labs and offers a wide range of research activities in areas such as, Telecommunications, Microelectronics, Opto electronics, VLSI, Electrical Energy Technologies & Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Systems and Networking, Information Systems and Electro-magnetic and Optics. Our research activities are supported by numerous research grants awarded over the last few years. Apart from basic research, our staff has been actively engaged in applied research and technology transfer.
