Statistics Poster Competition

Respected Deans, Directors, Professors, HODs and Dear Faculty

In celebration of 100 years of LCWU, Department of Statistics in collaboration with ORIC, is pleased to organize a poster competition on 27th October 2021. So it is the time for our unification to reflect and highlight successes and achievements together and to exhibit what we achieved over the years. The theme of this competition is to display the academic developments (publications, student’s enrollment etc.) in your discipline and also to streamline various fields of research by giving the young researchers an opportunity to exhibit their research ideas.

What is a statistical poster?

A statistical poster is a display containing one or more related graphics and the statistical analysis that summarize and examine the data from different points of view to answer specific research questions. Therefore Posters must reflect the usage, analysis, interpretation and findings.

Size of poster:

Posters must be two-dimensional (one single sheet) and one-sided: maximum size is (length x width)  (36 in x 48 in). Participants must bring with them the standees for poster display.

Divisions of Poster:

Posters have been divided in following categories:

           Applied Statistics (Academic representation research students from all departments will be highly encouraged)

                    Mathematical Statistics

           Survey Sampling

           Quality Control 

The judging criteria:

The posters from all BS, MS and PhD students from all the departments will be evaluated separately on the following criteria:

           Clear demonstration of objectives, important relationships, patterns and conclusions.

           Technical Aspects (use of statistical methods, calculations and interpretation).

           Appropriateness of the graphics for the data.

           Overall impact of the display for eye-catching appeal and visual attractiveness.

           Creativity (Design) – data collection methods, sample size issues.

Deadline for submission of printed poster:
