Year 2019-2021

Kashmir Solidarity Walk, 30th August, 2019

In the light of current barbaric Indian activities in Disputed Kashmir, the Government of Pakistan ordered all educational institutions to actively play their part during Kashmir Hour. As per the directions of Government, Kashmir Hour is to be observed every Friday for a month. Students of Intermediate, BS and MS/MPhil enthusiastically took part in the activity.

The following activities took place during that half an hour:

·       The National Anthem of Pakistan and Kashmir were played

·       Faculty and students formed a human chain to show unity and solidarity

·       All respected Faculty, Staff and Students walked from the Gangaram Building towards Gate no.1 LCWU.

Dengue Awareness Walk Report, 18th Sep, 2019

Lahore College for Women University arranged a dengue awareness walk as per the instructions of Punjab Government within campus premises in collaboration with Director Student Affairs, Dengue Committee and Student Council on Wednesday, 18th September, 2019.  Walk was led by Worthy Vice Chancellor LCWU Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza along with university administration and faculty members also numbers of students participated and spread word about cautions and precautions regarding dengue.

Tree Plantation with regards to “Clean and Green Pakistan” 19th September, 2019

Lahore College for Women University vigorously takes steps to keep the campus clean and green in order to play its part for a clean environment. The worthy Vice Chancellor along with Director and Assistant Director PHA planted three trees in the Hockey ground.

The student council was responsible for mobilizing students at the venue for the purpose of awareness among them. Members of council made posters as well.

Kashmir Solidarity Walk, 20th September, 2019

As per the directions of the Government of Pakistan, Lahore College for Women University organized a walk to show solidarity with Kashmir, under the supervision of Director Student Affairs on Friday, 20th September, 2019 from 12:00pm to 12:30pm on the service road outside the campus. Registrar LCWU, Deans, Directors, CODs, faculty members, administrative staff and students participated in the walk.

ANTI-HARASSMENT SOCIETY ACTIVITY REPORT 16th October, 2019

The society successfully conducted its first event. Around 150 students from various departments attended. The worthy Director Student Affairs Lahore College for Women University Ms. Bushra Nadeem and eminent guest speaker Ms. Muhiba Ahmed was present at the event. The Head Girl LCWU Ms. Amna Mateen introduced the society to the students of Lahore College for Women University. The Deputy Head Girl LCWU Ms. Reha Afzal conducted a survey on the audience. The objective was to indicate the areas which the society should focus on. The Joint Secretaries Student Council conducted activities to enable better understanding among the audience. The activity was regarding “International Steps to Report Harassment. A poem was also presented by a student. Ms. Muhiba Ahmed was invited to conduct a motivational session. She spoke for 30 minutes. A vote of thanks was presented by the Director of Student Affairs Ms. Bushra Nadeem. She presented a souvenir to Ms. Muhiba Ahmed. The President and Secretary for the Anti-Harassment Society were also awarded badges by the esteemed guests. Following are the selected names:

Press Release of Women of Excellence, 25th October, 2019 

On Friday 25th October, 2019 Dukhtran e Pakistan in collaboration with Lahore College for Women University organized a conference on Women of Excellence from 09:00am to 12:00pm at Student Service Center of Lahore College for Women University. 

Members of Panel discussion:

·       Dr. Kosar Firdous (Director Tarbyah, Ripha International University, Islamabad, Ex. Senator, Captain AMC Armed Forces Pakistan).

·       Miss Aroosha Amir Khan (Research Executive in DIC Pakistan, Sister Company of Packages Group LTD).

·       Afiya Serwar (Panelist)  

·       Miss Anum Butt (Student of Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan and Islamic thought and civilization UMT) Moderator

National Assembly, Ex. Member Islami Nazriyati Council).

 

In the discussion panelists highlighted the importance of women in Islam, their role as a milestone of every society. Panelists shed light about the inspiring women of history and Islam, also conveyed the message that how women can seek their wholesome identity without diluting her faith in the present modern social norms. Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi addressed the audience and introduced Dukhtran E Pakistan to the audience and invited them to join hands with them for the uplift of the women and future generation in today’s complex society.

Director Student Affairs Mrs. Bushra Nadeem proposed the Vote of thanks to the eminent panelists and audience.

Stylo Activity 5th and 6th November, 2019

An activity has been organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with STYLO Pvt. Limited, to generate funds for TED-X LCWU Education Department, for Rs. 1, 00000/- (Hundred Thousand-1Lac) on 5th November, 2018 and 6th November, 2019 at Iqra Auditorium.

FUN FESTIVAL 2019

Annual Fun/Fall Festival was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs of LCWU on 14th November 2019, in the Hockey Ground from 09:00AM to 04:00PM.  Variety of stalls (Food, Jewelry & clothes), Rides, Games and other entertainment stuff were set up. The purpose of this festival was to generate fund for SAFE (Student Advance Fund Endowment). Approx. 1.2 Million Rs. was generated for the noble cause.

 

Bonfire by Director Student Affairs on 23rd January, 2020

A bonfire was arranged by Director Student Affairs on 23rd January, 2020 Main Ground of LCWU, in the evening from 03:00PM to 08:00PM. Main purpose of this event was to generate funds for LCWUMUN2020.

The event was inaugurated by the esteemed Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza Lahore College for Women University Lahore. Directors and faculty from different departments attended the event it along huge number of students. The woods for the bonfire were provided by the senior estate officer of LCWU. The event schedule was followed by two music bands and individual singers. Band names LAL BAND and young talent from University of Lahore, university entertained the audience with his singing skills. Different numbers of food and jewelry stalls were placed for the enjoyment and to enlighten the event.

Opening Ceremony Effective Role of Youth in Drug Use Prevention on 23rd January 2020

Lahore College for Women University in collaboration with Drug Advisory Training Hub and Youth Council for Anti-Narcotics organized a seminar on “Effective Role of Youth in Drug Use Prevention” on 23rd January, 2020 in the Iqra Auditorium, LCWU.

The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza welcomed the esteemed Guests and Ms. Bushra Nadeem the Director Student Affairs said the vote of thanks to the honorable guests such as;

1.     Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Shah – Consultant Anti-Drug/Narcotics Campaign

2.     Ms. Bushra Nadeem, Director Student Affairs

3.     Prof.Dr, Talat Sohail – Chairperson of psychology Department

Mr. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Shah presented facts, figures and statistics of the drug effected individuals in Pakistan. In the end, Dr. Bushra Mirza, presented shields to the honorable guests and Mr. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain presented certificates to the organizing committee of the LCWU. The seminar closed with the vote of thanks by Ms. Bushra Nadeem and Lunch for the participants and guest was arranged in the galleries of Iqra Auditorium, for ministers in the Siraju-Din Committee room.

Kashmir Solidarity Walk, 4th February, 2020

The Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with Intermediate College, Lahore College for Women University organized a Kashmir Solidarity walk on 4th February, 2020 at 01:00PM in the regard of Kashmir Solidarity Day 5th Feb. The walk started with formation of human chain followed by a huge rally chanting in favor of Kashmir from Student Service Center towards Gate no.03 of the university. The walk was accompanied by eminent guest Ms. Sadia Sohali (MPA). The walk was led by Registrar, Directors, CODs, teaching and non-teaching staff and a large number of students.

Provincial Round of Shan-e-Rehmat-ul-ill-Alameen week – 14th November, 2020

The Directorate of student Affairs in collaboration with Islamic Studies Department organized the Provincial Round of Shan-e-Rehmat-ul-lil-Alameen week for Qirat/Naat and Speech competition (Female category) as directed by the Higher Education Department and Govt. of the Punjab. Students from 9 districts of Punjab participated in the event. The competitions were held on the 14th November.2020 in the university Auditorium and Student Service Centre simultaneously. The event was telecasted live on WebTV LCWU and FM 96.6. Hafiza Memoona Ashraf (IUB), Rida Farooq (GCUF) and Nimra Batool (GCWUF) got first positions in Qirat/Naat and Speech competition respectively. The winners were presented with shields and certificates. 

Report of one day training session on Power point

The Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with Bargad organized a One-Day training session on POWERPOINT and PRESENTATION SKILLS. The event was mainly organized by Head Girl Reha Afzal, Deputy Head Girl Fatima Rehman and General Secretary Sarah Majid.

It was conducted in Auditorium on 1st March 2021 from 10:00 Am to 1:00 Pm. There was a total audience of approximately 600 students.

The speaker for the session was “Nabila Naseem", who is working as a Freelancer in the field of Digital Art. As a Chief Guest we had our Vice Chancellor and from Bargad we had their Program Coordinator Miss Noor Imran. At the end of the event a souvenir was presented to Miss Noor Imran and the Organizing Certificates were presented to Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl and General Secretary.

Self Defense Training by Anti-Harassment Society

On 8th of March, Directorate Student Affairs and the Anti-Harassment Society in Collaboration with Pakistan Martial Arts Association organized an event on “Self-Defense Training Along with a Play Safaid Dagh"

The event was conducted in Iqra Auditorium on 8th of March 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In the first part of the event, we had a training session performed by the President of Martial Arts Association Sir Anwar Mohiuddin and our Council, after the first phase there was 20 minutes play depicting the social taboos related to harassment.

 

At the end of the event souvenir was presented to the President of Sir Anwar Mohiuddin and certificates were distributed among the audience and participants.

Year 2018-2019

1.    Tree Plantation Activity, 12 October 2018

Lahore College for Women University arranged a tree Plantation activity on Friday 12th October, 18, at the Kala Shah Kaku Campus of LCWU. 300 students along with senior faculty participated in this activity and planted almost 350 plants. The noteworthy faculty includes the honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, Deans and Directors of Biotechnology department (Dr. Shagufta Mughal), IR department (Dr. Nasreen Aftab) and the Directorate of Student Affairs. Although in Pakistan our forest department is doing its best to spread greenery, this dream of a 'Green Pakistan' can come true only when all segments of society join hands to make this campaign a success. Lahore College for Women University, played its role and will continue to support and encourage "A Green Pakistan'.

2.    Anti-Drug and Narcotics walk, 15th October 2018

A walk on “Say NO TO Drugs” was arranged by Director Student Affairs and Student Council in collaboration with the Punjab police on Monday, 15th October, 2018 at 10:15am in front of Ganga ram Building. In which the eminent Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, Chairperson of department’, Faculty and student from various departments wholeheartedly participated.  Certain number of posters and charts were made by LCWU student Council to spread the massage of Anti-drug & Narcotics. The Walk was ended with an address by the Convener of “Drug Control Committee” of LCWU.

3.    Stylo Activity 17th and 18th October, 2018

An activity has been organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with STYLO Pvt. Limited, to generate funds for three day conference of Zoology and Biotechnology Department, for Rs. 1, 00000/- (Hundred Thousand-1Lac) on 17th October, 2018 and 18th October, 2018 at Iqra Auditorium.

5.   Seminar on Role of Women in Promoting peace in the Light of Quran and Sunnah, in our Diverse Society on 30th November, 2018

The Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) hosted a one day seminar in collaboration with IRI (Islamic Research Institute), SAVE Pakistan (Sister Against Violent Extremism) which is world’s first female counter-terrorism platform and Pigham e Pakistan. The seminar was graced by the presence of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor. The Guest of Honor was Justice Retired Professor Dr. Nasira Javed Iqbal. The focal person and host of the event was Ms. Shagufta Moghal, from the Department of Professional Studies, IOE.

Guests participated in this seminar was:

·         Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute, Professor of Shariah & Islamic Law at International Islamic University, Islamabad.

·         Ms. Romina Khurshid, a passionate activist and a politician, Fedral Think Tank of climate change and nursing council; national institute of health and women caucus.
She is also working closely with sustainable development policy institute (SDPI).

·         Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi, former MNA and Member of Islamic Ideology council.

·         Ms. Raheela Durani, Former Speaker and Minister of Baluchistan Assembly.

·         Dr. Baela Raza Jamil, Director of Programmers at Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA)

·         Dr. Rabia Akhter, Director School of Integrated Social Sciences at University of Lahore.

·         Sardar Mansoor Azam Qazi, Senior Advisor to the Parliamentarian Forum for Reforms Dr. Amjad Tufail A distinguished psychologist.

·         Ms. Nabeers Andaleeb Naeemi, Principal Sarul uloom Sirajiya Naeemiya, who made dua for future peace and harmony in Pakistan.

The speakers highlighted and spoke at length about the various aspects, facets, implications, recommendations and future steps in promoting the role of women for peace building in Pakistan. The event was a great success and was attended by faculty and students from all department of LCWU. Ms. Bushra Nadeem extended the vote of thanks at the end of the seminar. The guest then enjoyed tea with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor in the Syndicate Hall.  The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the entire team of DSA for successfully organizing and hosting such a big event.

6.    Convention on Effective Role of Youth in Drug Use Prevention on 21st December, 2019.

Ms. Ayesha Sadiqqa Chairperson department of Graphics Design, LCWU arranged the poster exhibition on Anti-Drug and Narcotics. The Esteemed Minister of Punjab Govt. announced the winners of poster competition on Anti-Drug and Narcotics and presents those certificates. In the end, Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, presented shields to the honorable guests and Mr. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain presented certificates to the organizing committee of the LCWU. The seminar closed with the vote of thanks by Ms. Bushra Nadeem and Lunch for the participants and guest was arranged in the galleries of Iqra Auditorium, for ministers in the Sirajuddin -Din Committee room.

A bonfire was arranged by Directorate Student Affairs on 25th January, 2019 outside Gangaram Building of LCWU, in the evening from 03:00APM to 07:00PM. Main purpose of this event was to generate funds for Diamar-Bhasha and Mohamnd Dams. The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor. Students from different departments as well as faculty members attended the event with full excitement. Laal Band from LUMS and young talent from University of Lahore performed at the event, university singer Mohsin also entertained the audience with his singing skills. Different food and jewelry stalls were placed for entertainment. 

8. Alumni Reunion Lunch on 23rd February, 2019 

The Annual Alumni Reunion lunch was arranged by Directorate Student Affairs on 23rd February, 2019 in the Cricket Ground LCWU.

The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor and Executive members of LCA. Dignitaries of LCA, faculty members, old Students as well as current students of LCWU attended the event with full zest and zeal. Talented singer Humaira Arshad (old student of Lahore College) performed on stage for the enthusiastic audience. Ibrar Malik and band, young talent from University of Lahore performed at the event. Handicrafts, plants and jewelry stalls were placed for entertainment. Souvenirs (shawls, mugs and key chains) were presented to the dignitaries of LCA.

9. Another Feather in the Cap of LCWU!

Lahore College for Women University, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, presented a cheque of Rs. 1 Million to the Former Chief Justice Mr. Saqib Nisar for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam fund on 1st March, 2019. Rt. Chief Justice Saqib Nisar (custodian of dam fund) appreciated the efforts of LCWU and he said he will look forward to more contributions in the future towards this Nobel cause. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz-Chairperson Biotechnology Department and Ms. Bushra Nadeem- Director Student Affairs. LCWU has always worked towards the betterment of society and will continue to work for this National Cause!

10. HIV Awareness Poster Competition on 17th April, 2019

The Punjab AIDS Control Program, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs LCWU organized a poster competition on theme of HIV/AIDS awareness with a prize money of Rs.20,000/-, Rs. 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively and 40 consolation prizes of Rs.1000/- each. Various students from different department participated in the competition, Huma Ehsan (BS-Biotechnology), Saliha Iftikhar (BS-Pakistan Studies), Maida Afzal (BS-Graphic Design) won 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.    

11. International Student Convention and Expo 2019

University of Education organized 3 days International Student Convention and Expo 2019 in partnership with LCWU and other universities from 17th to 19th April 2019. LCWU FM 96.6 was the media partner of the event. Student Council LCWU participated as active ambassadors for the different events organized throughout the Expo. LCWU hosted theater competition on the theme of interfaith harmony and peace on the 3rd day i.e. 19th April 2019 in Iqra Auditorium. Talented teams from different universities and colleges participated in the event. University of Education Multan scored 1st position, Lahore Garrison University stood 2nd and Lahore College for Women University got 3rd position. Students of LCWU also won 1st position in cultural walk, 2nd position in painting and 1st & 2nd position on poetry competition.
