The International Resource Center (IRC), DFDI, organised a seminar on “Emerging Trends and Advancement in Electrochemical Energy and Sustainable Technology” on 9th April 2026 at G-35, LCWU. The keynote speaker, Prof. Nauman Arshid from Sunway University, Malaysia, shared insights on advancements in electrochemical energy, particularly in battery technologies and sustainable energy storage, while highlighting the importance of research collaboration. A large number of faculty and students from different departments of the Faculty of Science and Technology participated and actively engaged with the speaker through thoughtful questions. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Zohra Nazir Kayani, Director DFDI, acknowledging the speaker and participants for a productive and engaging discussion.

The French DELF A1 Short Course by ILH, IRC, DFDI concluded with a graceful Certificate Distribution Ceremony held on 12th December 2025 at the Syndicate Hall, LCWU. The event was graced by the Guest of Honour, Vice-Chancellor LCWU, Professor Dr. Uzma Qureshi, who appreciated the initiative for strengthening international language competencies among students. She also commended the efforts of Dr. Sana Baig, Incharge ILH and Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Head IRC, for the successful conduct of ILH’s first short course, acknowledging their leadership in launching this important academic initiative. The Chief Guests, Professor Dr. Faliha Zahra Kazmi, Dean of oriental languages and Islamic studies, and Professor Dr. Zohra Nazir Kayani, Director DFDI, praised the contributions of ILH, IRC, and DFDI in promoting meaningful international learning opportunities on campus. During the ceremony, certificates were distributed among the participants who successfully completed the DELF A1 short course, recognizing their commitment and achievement. The event marked an important milestone in advancing internationalization and cross-cultural competence at LCWU.


IRC, DFDI & Geographical Society LCWU successfully concluded the Two-Day Hands-on International Workshop on Programming Applied to GIS and Remote Sensing on 11th Dec 2025, in GIS lab, Geography Department, LCWU. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Paul Passy, Lecturer from the Department of Geography, Université Paris-Cité, France, who shared invaluable expertise on geospatial programming, spatial data handling, and cloud-based remote sensing applications. The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Zohra Nazir Kayani, Director DFDI & Prof. Dr. Arifa Tahir, Chairperson, Environmental Sciences Department. The event concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to Dr. Paul Passy and distribution of certificates among the enthusiastic participants of the workshop. A big congratulations to all the participants, organizers, and collaborators for making this international learning experience a great success!


International Resource Centre, DFDI, in collaboration with the Department of Gender and Development Studies and the Geographical Society LCWU, organized a one-day international workshop titled “Field Research and Migration Studies in the Global South: Practical Tools, Experiences, and Applications”, on 17th November 2025, in Students Service Centre, LCWU. The workshop featured Dr. Zubaida Umar Baba, Diversity Support Worker at New Wortley Community Centre, Leeds, UK, and PhD in Migration Studies from the University of Leeds, as the Resource Person. Dr. Baba shared practical and theoretical insights on migration studies, emphasizing field-based research strategies, ethical considerations, displaced communities, and the intersection of gender and conflict-driven migration. The session included interactive discussions, practical examples, and guided exercises, enabling participants to apply research tools and engage with real-world case studies related to migration and displacement. Prof. Dr. Zohra Kayani, Director DFDI, attended as Chief Guest and distributed certificates among participants while appreciating the efforts of the organizing team.


The seminar featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Zubaida Umar Baba, Diversity Support Worker, New Wortley Community Centre, Leeds, United Kingdom; Ms. Dur e Shawar, Chief Operating Officer, All Pakistan Women Association, and General Secretary, Punjab Climate Action Network; Ms. Khadija Aleem, Visiting Lecturer, Sustainable Development Study Centre, Government College University, Lahore; Ms. Mehak Masood, National Project Officer, Migration, Environment, and Climate Change, UN IOM; and Dr. Moneeba Iftikhar, Lecturer, Department of Mass Communication, LCWU.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion session among faculty, students, and participants, reaffirming LCWU’s commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable development through academic engagement and international collaboration.


A study abroad seminar was conducted on 20th January, 2025 by Mr Syed Abidi focusing on Introduction to Studying Abroad, Popular Study Destinations, Types of Study Programs, Choosing the Right Program, Cost of Studying Abroad, Funding and Scholarships and Admission Requirements. It was an insighful seminar that guided students regarding the Scholarship and Career Opportunities Post-Graduation


Under the leadership of Director DFDI Professor Dr. Uzma Qureshi and Head, IRC, Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, the International Resource Centre, DFDI organized a webinar on Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarships on 9th September, 2024. The resource person was Ms. Anum Fatima, lecturer in Statistics Department, LCWU who is currently doing DPhil in Statistics from the University of Oxford and is a Commonwealth scholarship awardee. The focal person for the event was Dr. Amina Obaid Khawaja (Senior Program Leader, IRC) while the webinar was moderated by Ms. Humma Abid (Program Leader, Networking events). The resource person outlined the vision and objectives of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) and gave a detailed walkthrough of the application process. We are highly grateful to the resource person for such an informative session and gratefully acknowledge the support and cooperation of the entire IRC team.


The International Resource Centre, DFDI, organized a taining on June 4, 2024, spotlighting DAAD doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships. Esteemed Prof. Dr. Safdar Ali Shirazi, a distinguished former Director of Institute of Geography, University of the Punjab, Lahore, was the resource person who masterfully conducted the session. Aimed at faculty and students, the event offered profound insights into securing prestigious DAAD scholarships.
