Fund Raising for University Endowment Fund

Fund Raising for University Endowment Fund

The Lahore College for Women University, Lahore (LCWU), a public sector university under administrative control of Government of the Punjab, Higher Education Department, was established in 2002, through an Ordinance (XLVIII of 2002) and is a premier post-graduate female institution of higher learning in the country. Lahore College for Women (Now LCWU) was founded in 1922 in a small building at Hall Road, Lahore to meet the academic needs of female students of the sub-continent. Lahore College for Women, Lahore was shifted to the present building at Jail Road in 1951. The glorious academic values of this leading institution have been shaped by its institutional history, which is spread over a span of 100 years. The LCWU can ill-afford to rest on its laurels. The decade long expansion phase has to be followed by another decade of strenuous efforts, so as to consolidate and achieve higher standards of academic performance. For today, while numbers speak for themselves, the Institution has main campus at Lahore and a sub campus at Kala Shah kaku (KSK) at the planning stage.

For today, while numbers speak for themselves, the Institution has main campus at Lahore and a sub campus at Kala Shah kaku (KSK) at the planning stage. The current student enrollment is over 19000 in 112 Degree programs (50 under graduate, 38 graduate and 24 doctoral degree programs). The fulltime faculty strength is more than 600 including more than 250 PhDs. There are another 40 faculty pursuing their higher studies at PhD level locally and internationally. With a quality ensemble of faculty active in research, the LCWU has produced around 1000 publications in the previous years, most of them in impact factor journals with strong citation index (Annex-  ). The establishment of another sub campus at Kala Shah Kaku on 100 acres of land is also under way.
A Strategic Planning exercise in active collaboration with USAID Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) Project is recently undertaken by Lahore College for Women University to determine an appropriate direction for this premier institute of women in the future and to identify the best means to do so. To fulfill the goal of organizational development of LCWU, core emphasis is on its Vision 2040, Mission, and Core Values. Goals are formulated to work toward the mission, core strategies are evolved to achieve the goals, and then actions are planned.
An extensive exercise for this purpose was undertaken during training under Strategic Planning organized by USAID Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) Project when all stakeholders deliberated in exhaustive sessions starting from early 2023 and came up with Vision 2040, Mission and Core Values for the institution.

In line with vision 2040 of the university, the university has developed a fund raising plan for generating and enhancing its revenue resources for financial sustainability. Fund raising plan mainly consisted of two components.
