Seminar on role of women in promoting peace in the light of Quran and Sunnah, in our diverse society on 30th November, 2018

The Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) hosted a one day seminar in collaboration with IRI (Islamic Research Institute), SAVE Pakistan (Sister Against Violent Extremism) which is world’s first female counter-terrorism platform and Pigham e Pakistan. The seminar was graced by the presence of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor. The Guest of Honor was Justice Retired Professor Dr. Nasira Javed Iqbal. The focal person and host of the event was Ms. Shagufta Moghal, from the Department of Professional Studies, IOE.
Guests participated in this seminar was:
  • Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute, Professor of Shariah & Islamic Law at International Islamic University, Islamabad.
  • Ms. Romina Khurshid, a passionate activist and a politician, Fedral Think Tank of climate change and nursing council; national institute of health and women caucus.
    She is also working closely with sustainable development policy institute (SDPI).
  • Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi, former MNA and Member of Islamic Ideology council.
  • Ms. Raheela Durani, Former Speaker and Minister of Baluchistan Assembly.
  • Dr. Baela Raza Jamil, Director of Programmers at Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA)
  • Dr. Rabia Akhter, Director School of Integrated Social Sciences at University of Lahore.
  • Sardar Mansoor Azam Qazi, Senior Advisor to the Parliamentarian Forum for Reforms Dr. Amjad Tufail A distinguished psychologist.
  • Ms. Nabeers Andaleeb Naeemi, Principal Sarul uloom Sirajiya Naeemiya, who made dua for future peace and harmony in Pakistan.
The speakers highlighted and spoke at length about the various aspects, facets, implications, recommendations and future steps in promoting the role of women for peace building in Pakistan. The event was a great success and was attended by faculty and students from all department of LCWU. Ms. Bushra Nadeem extended the vote of thanks at the end of the seminar. The guest then enjoyed tea with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor in the Syndicate Hall.  The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the entire team of DSA for successfully organizing and hosting such a big event.

Fun Festival 2018

Annual Fun/Fall Festival was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs of LCWU on 14th November 2018, in the Hockey Ground from 09:00AM to 04:00PM.  Variety of stalls (Food, Jewelry & clothes), Rides, Games and other entertainment stuff were set up. The purpose of this festival was to generate fund for SAFE (Student Advance Fund Endowment). Approx. 1 Million Rs. was generated for the noble cause.
Stylo Activity 17th and 18th October, 2018

An activity has been organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with STYLO Pvt. Limited, to generate funds for three day conference of Zoology and Biotechnology Department, for Rs. 1, 00000/- (Hundred Thousand-1Lac) on 17th October, 2018 and 18th October, 2018 at Iqra Auditorium.

Anti-Drug and Narcotics Walk, 15th October 2018

A walk on “Say NO TO Drugs” was arranged by Director Student Affairs and Student Council in collaboration with the Punjab police on Monday, 15th October, 2018 at 10:15am in front of Ganga ram Building. In which the eminent Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, Chairperson of department’, Faculty and student from various departments wholeheartedly participated.  Certain number of posters and charts were made by LCWU student Council to spread the massage of Anti-drug & Narcotics. The Walk was ended with an address by the Convener of “Drug Control Committee” of LCWU.

Tree Plantation Activity, 12 October 2018

Lahore College for Women University arranged a tree Plantation activity on Friday 12th October, 18, at the Kala Shah Kaku Campus of LCWU. 300 students along with senior faculty participated in this activity and planted almost 350 plants. The noteworthy faculty includes the honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor, Deans and Directors of Biotechnology department (Dr. Shagufta Mughal), IR department (Dr. Nasreen Aftab) and the Directorate of Student Affairs. Although in Pakistan our forest department is doing its best to spread greenery, this dream of a 'Green Pakistan' can come true only when all segments of society join hands to make this campaign a success. Lahore College for Women University, played its role and will continue to support and encourage "A Green Pakistan'.
