The main objectives of the conference are as follows:
- Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: Bring together experts, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from diverse fields to share insights, research findings, and best practices related to climate change, food security, poverty, and inequality.
- Develop Integrated Solutions: Encourage the formulation of holistic and sustainable strategies that address the intersection of climate change with food security, poverty, and inequality. This involves understanding the complex interplay between these areas and how actions in one can significantly impact the others.
- Promote Policy Advocacy: Provide a forum for discussing and advocating for effective policies that are informed by the latest research and practical experiences.The goal is to influence both national and international policies in a way that addresses these pressing issues cohesively.
- Enhance Collaboration: Foster partnerships and networks among different stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and communities. Such collaborations are essential for implementing comprehensive solutions on a global scale.

Poster Submission Requirements:
- Abstract Submission Deadline: Ensure your abstract is submitted by June 10, 2024.
- Format: Submit as a PDF or Word document.
- Length: Maximum 300 words.
- Content: Include title, authors' names, affiliations, and contact information. Provide a brief overview of the research, including objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications.
Poster Format:
- Size: A1 (23.4 x 33.1 inches)
- Orientation: Portrait
- File Format: PDF or PowerPoint
- Resolution: Ensure high resolution for clear printing (minimum 300 dpi).
Poster Content:
- Title: Clear and concise, at the top of the poster.
- Authors and Affiliations: Below the title, include the names and affiliations of all authors.
- Introduction: Briefly outline the background and objectives of the research.
- Methods: Describe the methodology used.
- Results: Present the key findings with visuals (graphs, charts, images) where applicable.
- Conclusion: Summarize the main conclusions and implications of the study.
- References: Include any key references cited in the poster.

The International Conference on "Contemporary Challenges in Global Sustainability: Navigating towards a Resilient Future with a Focus on Economic, Environmental, and Gender Dynamics" was inaugurated today at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz, VC, emphasized women's empowerment and entrepreneurship in Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal welcomed guests. Keynote addresses were delivered by international speakers Prof. Dr. Paul Liu and Prof. Dr. Jenny Dissen, and national speakers including Ms. Sumaira Samad and Prof. Dr. Aneeq Ahmad.
Day 2
On June 26, 2024, the 2nd day of the International Conference titled "Contemporary Challenges in Global Sustainability: Navigating towards a Resilient Future with a Focus on Economic, Environmental, and Gender Dynamics" was held at LCWU. The event featured keynote speakers who shared valuable insights on various aspects of sustainability. Dr. Muhammad Afzal emphasized the importance of structured development processes in Pakistan, while Dr. Nadeem Khalid discussed sustainability across different sectors. Dr. Ramzan Sheikh highlighted the issue of transboundary pollution and Mr. Salman Abid focused on the role of corporate responsibility in addressing environmental issues. The conference concluded with closing remarks of Prof. Dr. Arifa Tahir , Chairperson of the Environmental Science Department at LCWU.
Day 3
The Three-Day International Conference on "Contemporary Challenges in Global Sustainability: Navigating towards a Resilient Future with Focus on Economic, Environmental, and Gender Dynamics" concluded with a proposal for various policies and strategic frameworks to effectively address sustainability issues. One major takeaway was the need for tailored sustainable development initiatives that reflect the unique needs of local communities, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and ensuring enduring impact. The powerful role of social media in promoting sustainability was another key discussion point, highlighting its potential to drive environmental awareness and action.
The Chief Guest on the closing day was Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
The event, held at Lahore College for Women University, brought together distinguished experts, policymakers, and students to discuss and devise strategies for global sustainability. While addressing the conference, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Muhammad Ahmad Khan said, "To tackle global sustainability challenges, our government is committed to implementing policies that integrate economic growth with environmental protection and social equity. By addressing local needs and leveraging social media's reach, we aim to create resilient and inclusive communities for a sustainable future, he added"
Muhammad Ahmad Khan acknowledged the importance of policy frameworks that support sustainable development and reaffirmed the need for legislative measures to ensure environmental protection.
In her remarks, Professor Dr. Shagufta Naz, Vice Chancellor of LCWU, highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering sustainability through research, curriculum development, and community engagement. Prof. Naz urged all participants to carry forward the insights and recommendations gathered and commit to actionable steps toward a sustainable and resilient future. She emphasized that while sustainable development offers immense benefits for global populations and future generations, it is fraught with challenges that require collective effort and cooperation to overcome.
In his concluding remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at LCWU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, highlighted the urgency of addressing global sustainability challenges to safeguard future generations. Dr. Afzal noted the importance of grassroots governance, empowering local populations, and the pivotal role of women in achieving sustainable development goals.
The conference also featured scientific sessions where researchers presented their findings on various aspects of global sustainability. Participants addressed the urgent need to enhance environmental capital, including forests, soil quality, and groundwater resources, to mitigate cross-border pollution effects.
