The Department of Elementary and Teacher Education under the umbrella of the Institute of Education offers professional development programs for both pre-service and in-service teachers so that they can maintain and extend their professional knowledge in a rapidly changing educational environment.

We believe in student centred, inquiry based, creative and adaptive teaching approaches which are compatible with technology rich environments. We facilitate teachers to become morally and socially responsible, competent, creative and reflective educators so that they can become future leaders and agents of change in the society.

The department strives to develop a community of competent and committed practitioners who are able to create and sustain democratic and conducive environment for teaching and learning, enabling learners to become independent and lifelong learners.
