Lahore, Pakistan— Letter of Intent virtually signed Between York Environmental Sustainability Institutes (YESI), University of York, UK and Department of Geography, Lahore College for Women University Pakistan on April 18th, 2024. The esteemed signatories were joined by Prof. Dr. Lindsay Stringer, Director of YESI-University of York and Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson of Geography Depaetment LCWU and Head of International Resource Center (DFDI). Both parties have formally agreed to collaborate on various initiatives aimed at advancing research, addressing pressing issues related to climate change and sustainability, the exploration of joint research endeavors and the pursuit of funding opportunities, along with the identification of opportunities for co-authoring publications.
Additionally, the agreement includes fostering academic exchange by co-hosting workshops and seminars, facilitating connections with key stakeholders, and promoting the exchange of ideas, along with provisions for the exchange of scholars, enabling visiting professorships and guest lectures to enrich the academic discourse and contribute expertise to both campuses. Geography Department has the honor to be one of the oldest departments of LCWU which aims to impart up-to-date knowledge and practical skills amongst Geography students through high quality teaching and laboratory work. Together LCWU and YESI researchers shall strive to work on attracting international climate funding to support adaptation and mitigation in Pakistan.
