Welcome to Physics department, LCWU
It is a matter of pride and pleasure for me to introduce the Department of Physics, Lahore College for Women University. The Department was established in 1951 with an objective of imparting quality education in the field of physics at undergraduate level later we start over graduate and post graduate programs. Department of Physics has well-equipped research labs. Scanning Electron Microscope, XRD, FTIR and many other resources, are close by. Our outstanding facilities and beautiful department provide an exceptional environment for teaching and research.
Physics generates fundamental knowledge needed for the future technological advances that will continue to drive the economic engines of the world. Physics contributes to the technological infrastructure and provides trained personnel needed to take advantage of scientific advances and discoveries. Physics provides an analytic problem-solving outlook and basic understanding of nature. Physics lies at the core of the earth sciences. It is essential for understanding the deep structure of Earth and the natural phenomena that affect Earth’s surface, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Physics with Biomedical Sciences overlays the principles that underpin the chemical, biological and life sciences on a solid physics background, while exposing us to the most recent developments in the biomedical area.
Some of our research groups focus on advanced engineering materials and ceramic material processing, while others are working on solving questions like ambiguity in plasmas, advances in magnetic materials and nanotechnology. We are dedicated to developing the next generation of scholars in Physics and building an inclusive learning environment. We at department of Physics are actively contributing in providing and sharing fundamental and quality knowledge for betterment of advanced engineering and technological applications through a large number of international impact factor publications.
