Social Work emerged as a value-based profession with the objective to promote societal well-being and better functioning of social structure at all levels. Social Worker’s quest for economic and social justice for vulnerable population. Department of social work at Lahore College For Women University is offering Social work as a minor course since 1988 and now it has started BS (4 years degree program) in social work since September 2009. Department provides such type of learning environment that prepares students as social work practitioners, leaders, scholars and policy makers who will promote human welfare and will become active part of our country's development. Our Distinctions are:

• Financial assistance from the Students Welfare Fund to the deserving students of the LCWU.
• Establishment of Book Bank in the LCWU for needy and deserving students.
• Youth Club of the students in order to support the activities of Red Crescent Society Punjab.
• Provision of medicines to the Government Hospitals and free dispensaries for needy and deserving patients.
• Supply of relief articles to IDPs.
• Relief Campaigns for Flood & Earthquake Victims.
• Campaigns for Fund Raising for Punjab T.B. Association and Pakistan Association of the Blind (Punjab).
• Provision of the funds to the individuals suffering from the different fatal diseases (Cancer, Cardiac, Kidney transplant) on their appeal at times.
• Provision of pints of blood (blood from students) to Fatmia for their patients.
• To provide different articles of need and ­financial assistance to institutions which include Gulab Devi Hospital, Shaukat Khanum  Hospital, S.O.S Village, Behbood Association, Neghaban Centre, Aat and many alike.
• Series of activities with National Volunteer Movement (NVM), Government of Pakistan (Plantation, Cleanliness, Speech and Essay Competition, Awareness about Traffic Rules and road safety)
• Provision of funds for the construction of Eye Operation Theater, ECG machine, beds, fridge, fans and medicines for Yaseen Free Hospital near Kala Shah Kaku interchange.
• Field Placement of Students in Community Projects and Govt. Hospitals where they perform different activities assigned to them.
