An orientation and guidance session was arranged with departmental focal persons for Career Guidance and Counseling Centre on 27th January, 2020 in seminar hall of Student Service Centre. This session was conducted by Ms. Tabinda Jalil (Student Counselor/Psychologist), Ms. Mamoona Riaz (Material Developer/Psychologist), and Ms. Samina Uzair (Student Counselor/Psyhologist).
Aim of the session was to create awareness regarding assessment services in addition to individual and group counseling offered by Career Guidance and Counseling Centre (CGCC). Focal persons from different departments attended the session. The ethical considerations of counseling process such as keeping client’s information confidential were highlighted during the session. They were briefed about Centre’s regular activities such as workshops and seminars organized for personality development of students of LCWU. Faculty was also given information regarding guidance materials developed in Counseling Centre.
Psychologists mentioned the barriers faced by students in gaining access to counseling services and how teachers can facilitate and guide them in this regard. In order to make counseling process more smooth and effective, role of departmental coordination was highlighted.
Focal persons were provided with guidance materials for students and faculty of their respective departments. In the end their queries were answered.
