September 14, 2021: the department of mass communication in collaboration with sustainable social development organization (ssdo) organized the inauguration ceremony of sustainable development goals’ wall at lahore college for women university. chief guest begum governor punjab parveen sarwar inaugurated the wall and the vice-chancellor prof. dr. bushra mirza also accompanied. honorable guest mpa uzma kardar, mpa sadia sohail, executive director ssdo kausar abbas also graced the ceremony. the sustainable development goals wall aims to set 17 goals to change the world. chairperson department of mass communication prof. dr. anjum zia performed the duties of stage secretary at the event. the event was attended by deans, directors, administrative staff, faculty members and staff of the department of mass communication, and few students
Begum governor punjab parveen sarwar also appreciated the efforts of the institute and said the initiative will help to create awareness among students and coordinate the efforts with academia and youth for achieving sustainable development goals set by united nations. united nations sets sdgs’ targets to change the world, she added. she lauded the lahore college for women's university and said that this institution has the potential to achieve sustainable development goals. she also suggested similar sdgs walls should be launched in other universities across punjab.
Addressing the ceremony, the incumbent vice-chancellor professor dr. bushra mirza said, the purpose of setting up sdgs wall in the university is to create awareness among the students about achieving sustainable development goals. this wall will continue to remind our students and faculty members to achieve sustainable goals. she also endorsed the ranking of lahore college for women university is noteworthy among the targets of sdgs goals. according to united nations' sustainable development goals times, higher education impact ranking our institute stands 1st among the universities of pakistan. moreover, she added lcwu, is ranked 7th in gender equality among 776 institutions of the world in the 2021 impact ranking. in addition, lcwu is ranked 101-200 in quality education internationally
Syed kausar abbas and mpa sadia sohail also emphasized the involvement of youth to achieve sustainable development growth. they also said our youth is power. we can’t achieve our goals without youth involvement
