An International Summit organized by USAID under HESSA Project

An International Summit organized by USAID under HESSA Project on “Shaping the Future of Higher Education in Pakistan” was held at NUTECH, Islamabad on 10th -12th June, 2024. Under the lead of the worthy Vice Chancellor of LCWU Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz, HESSA Strategic Planning team of LCWU comprised of Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Dean Faculty of Education; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social sciences; Mr. Abdul Ghaffar, Director University Financial Aid; Dr. Sumaira Sajjad, Director Student Affairs; Mr. Baber Ali Khan, Registrar and Ms. Mehreen Altaf, Secretary to Vice Chancellor/ MEL Focal person of HESSA Project actively participated in three days’ International Summit.

It is worth mentioning that Prof. Dr. Uzma Qurashi, Dean Faculty of Education / Focal person of HESSA Planning team has also participated as panelist in the Session 2: Optimizing faculty workload: Challenges and Policies  on day 1 of the summit. Dr. Maria Anjum, Director KBIC, LCWU was invited as a panelist on Day3 session 11: The Importance of University-Industry Linkages for Pakistan’s Economic Growth.

It is a proud moment for LCWU that three Success Stories / Projects of LCWU under HESSA Project have been selected for showcasing in this summit. The Campus based project, Establishment of Curio Shop Prof. Dr. Rifaat Saif Dar was selected to be presented at Session of women leaders on Day 1.

Prof. Dr. Humaira Majeed Khan, has presented her project of Establishment of Sustainable Physical Therapy Laboratory & Rehabilitation Center at LCWU in session of women leaders on day1.

Mr. Naveed Iqbal, Director WEB TV was also invited in the Technical session of showcasing on Day 2 at Session 8: Innovation in Teaching and Learning for Higher Impact. He presented his project documentary of Chort II made during the visit to University of Albama.

There were parallel sessions for Role of Registrars and Administration in Higher Education. Mr. Baber Ali Khan, Registrar LCWU and Mrs. Uzma Batool, Additional Registrar also participated in these sessions. Mr. Baber Ali Khan has also given his presentation on Day 3 in last session of summit

The core outcome of summit was revamping and innovation in delivery of quality education in Pakistan focusing employability, character building and inculcate the culture of thinking out of box. The summit was a good representation of cluster of eminent speakers from different backgrounds and regions.
