March 1st, 2024: Dr. Nausheen Mazhar the honorable Chairperson of the Geography Department at LCWU and a Climate Change Policy Expert, participated in a one-day training on Climate Resilient Development Planning for Provincial Planning Officers of the Government of Punjab, organized by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center at the Park Lane Hotel. The objectives of the training were to raise awareness of global warming and climate change, their direct and indirect impacts on various sectors of Pakistan, to devise a portfolio of strategies to systematically address these impacts, and to develop tools for solutions for climate resilience and adaptation.The outcomes were outstanding, as many experts from Provincial NGOs, INGOs/UN Agencies, and Punjab Provincial Departments attended this training. The need for such trainings is rapidly rising as we witness the effects of climate change, and the Geography department encourages the organization of such events to highlight the importance of this global issue.
