November 19, 2024, an enriching and interactive session was held between Dr. Meng Tian, an esteemed academic from Birmingham University, UK, and the faculty members of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). The session aimed to foster academic collaboration and explore opportunities for joint initiatives between the two institutions. The event was part of LCWU’s ongoing efforts to enhance global academic linkages and promote research collaboration.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Amara Khan, Chairperson, Department of English at LCWU. Dr. Khan emphasized the significance of the event in bringing together distinguished scholars and faculty members from different parts of the world. An interactive Q&A session allowed faculty members and PhD students to pose questions and share insights. 
The guests, Dr Tian, Dr Ijaz Ahmed Tatla (Associate Professor at the University of Education), and Dr Naima Qureshi (Assistant Professor at the University of Education) along with the focal person, Dr. Fakhra Aziz and the senior members of the faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies, met with the Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi to discuss further possibilities of collaboration and partnership for research and exchange programs.
The VC highlighted that such collaborations are vital for expanding global perspectives in academic research which both institutions are deeply involved in. Dr Quraishi encouraged faculty members to explore opportunities for joint research projects and academic development.
Dr Meng proposed the development of student and faculty exchange programs between LCWU and Birmingham University, offering students and faculty the opportunity to experience different academic environments and cultures. The possibility of joint degree programs was also discussed.
Dr Ghazala Noreen, Chief Proctor was also present on the occasion. She emphasized positive student engagement through joint social action programs between the two universities.
