Representation of Dr. Nausheen Mazhar at the prestigious 4th International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Beijing, China, from September 6-8, 2024The Geography Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson, Department of Geography, LCWU represented Pakistan at the prestigious 4th International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Beijing, China, from September 6-8, 2024. As a keynote speaker and national delegate from Pakistan, Dr. Mazhar presented her research on "Monitoring Desertification Dynamics in Punjab, Pakistan: A Pathway to Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality," and actively contributed to the global agenda on achieving LDN targets, as set by UNCCD. The inaugural session brought together global experts, policymakers, and data scientists to explore innovative ways to harness the power of Big Data in addressing the world's most pressing challenges. Her participation also highlighted plans to further advance efforts toward achieving SDG 15.3 targets, focusing on combating land degradation in Pakistan, in collaboration with CBAS, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
