Continuous Professional Development Workshop on “AI for Industrial Manufacturing” organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and PEC, 23rd April 2025
The Department of Electrical Engineering at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) continued its 2025 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Workshop Series with its second Workshop, held on 23rd April 2025. The workshop, titled “AI for Industrial Manufacturing” featured Dr. Umair Arif, CEO Disrupt labs Pvt. Ltd, as the resource person.

Dr. Umair Arif, a distinguished AI and computer vision specialist, delivered an insightful session grounded in his extensive experience in applying advanced visual analytics to industrial safety and intelligent systems. As the Founder of The Disrupt Labs and Strategy Lead at the Institute of Emerging Careers, Dr. Umair has led numerous initiatives focused on integrating AI into safety-critical industrial environments. His professional background includes serving as an Assistant Professor, leading the Computer Vision Team at Jogo.ai, and contributing to advanced video analytics research at NUST. Holding a PhD in Computer Vision from NUST and having completed a research fellowship at the University of Toronto in Intelligent Transportation Systems, he shared valuable real-world insights on AI-driven industrial safety, Industry 4.0 applications, and the growing impact of computer vision technologies on operational efficiency.

The workshop was attended by a diverse group of professionals and experts from renowned universities and industries. Faculty members including Dr. Sadia Murawwat, Dr. Taskeen, Dr. Faiza, Mr. Sajjad Rabbani, Ms. Ismat Hira, and Ms. Rimsha Musharraf were also present at the session. At the conclusion of the workshop.
Held in the Computer lab, the workshop served as a platform for knowledge sharing and professional development, engaging both students and industry professionals.
