Fareeha Basit Khan Literary Society, in collaboration with Department of English and DFDI arranged a Book Launch Event based on publication of a collection of poems, "Musings" by Professor Zakia Nasir.
The book is deeply introspective and offers diverse themes reflecting Diaspora, women, pandemic, nostalgia, and a wide range of rich topics.
The worthy Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University, guests and dignitaries from illustrious institutions graced the event with their presence.
The event comprised of wonderful theatrical performances, visual clips, International book review, recitals and an intellectually stimulating panel discussions. The panel discussions centered the author Prof Zakia Nasir, and guest panelists, Assistant Prof Shahzaib Khan from Institute of English Studies, University of Punjab and Dr Fatima Sayeda, Chairperson Department of English, FC College. The panel was moderated by Ms Aaisha Mumtaz, the Incharge of Fareeha Basit Khan Literary Society. The discussion probed into various themes of Diaspora, belonging, subjectivity, diction, melancholy, authenticity and relevance of the collection, as Dr Shahzaib Khan remarked "seductively simple" and "خَفِيفَتَانِ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ ثَقِيلَتَانِ فِي الْمِيزَانِ" meaning “light on the tongue but heavy on the scale".
The Incharge of Department of English and DFDI presented shields and bouquet to the guests. The launch was the first event organized under the newly named Fareeha Basit Khan Literary Society.
Professor Fareeha Basit Khan presented a donation of 50,000 rupees for Fareeha Basit Khan Literary Society on this occasion.
The event overall turned out to be an immense success.
