“Awareness Session on Preventive Strategies to reduce Substance Abuse- Role of Institution in preventing addiction“

The Department of Gender and Development Studies, WILL -LCWU held an “Awareness Session on Preventive Strategies to reduce Substance Abuse- Role of Institution in preventing addiction14th March, 2023 for students of LCWU. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain.

Consultant, Anti Drugs/ Narcotics Campaign, Mr. Safdar Abbas, Deputy Director NGOs, Department of Social Welfare Government of Punjab, Dr. Afzal Muhammad, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, LCWU and Dr. Uzma Ashiq Khan, HoD Gender and Development Studies, LCWU were the key speakers of the session. Speakers revealed that approximately 6 percent of the population – 9 percent of the adult male population and 2.9 percent of the adult female population – equivalent to 6.7 million people – had used a substance other than alcohol and tobacco in the preceding year. They shares that institution can play a vital role in reducing this increase ratio of substance abuse in our youth. Students shares their innovative ideas and suggestions to combat with drug addiction in Pakistan.
