Women Spring Fiesta

Department of Gender and Development Studies organized "Women Spring Fiesta" a week of 6-10 March 2023 in regards to International Women’s Day each day was celebrated with the following theme: 

Monday 6-03-2023: Purple day inauguration ceremony of "Women Spring Fiesta" that was inaugurated by Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, organized by the Gender and Development Studies Department on the eve of International Women's Day 2023. 

Tuesday 07-03-2023: Profession Day, students of the Department of Gender and Development Studies opted for any favorite profession they desired to be in or any person in that profession who aspires to them the most. Moreover, GDS Department arranged Gender talks, on "Women in Science" by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, in celebration of International Women's Day organized by the Department of Gender & Development Studies, LCWU. At the end, VC cut down a cake to celebrate International Women’s Day  

Wednesday 08-03-2023: Students and faculty of Department of Gender and Development Studies wore orange and black colors outfits to show the symbol and support the ending of violence against women. 

Thursday 09-03-2023: Students and faculty of Department of Gender and Development Studies celebrated the cultural day by wearing a traditional outfit to represent the multicultural nature of Pakistan. 

Friday 10-03-2023: Students and faculty of Department of Gender and Development Studies celebrated peace day by wearing white outfits for peace-promoting. Moreover, the Department of Gender and Development Studies, WILL -LCWU held an “Awareness Session on Women Empowerment through Entrepreneurship” on 10th March 2023 for students of LCWU. Dr. Madeeha Malik, CEO, Cyntex Health Projects PVT LTD (a partner organization of Women Chamber of Commerce, Islamabad) as a resource person shares that women's participation in the field of Entrepreneurship is crucial for achieving gender equality and promoting economic development of the country. Women Entrepreneurs can bring innovative ideas, generate employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of the country. Dr. Madeeha shared with the students her valuable ideas, strategies, skills and knowledge to develop their enterpreurnal mindsets and to overcome the challenges that women have to face in starting and growing their own businesses.
