Geography Department Chairperson at Lahore College for Women University Addresses Water Quality Challenges of Tarbela Reservoir at University of Paris Seminar on 21st September, 2023
Lahore, Pakistan – Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson of the Geography Department at Lahore College for Women University, (PI from Pakistan) recently made a significant progress in her HEC funded PERIDOT mobility grant project. Geography students from France participated in-person, while students of Geography from Pakistan joined the seminar virtually.
She spoke on the topic "Geo-Spatial Assessment of Water Quality and Sedimentation Trends for Sustainable Power Production in Tarbela Reservoir, Pakistan." Her research initiative primarily focuses on monitoring and combatting sedimentation issues in the Tarbela Dam.
Dr. Mazhar stressed the need for constant monitoring of underwater delta in Tarbela reservoir and the development of sustainable urban dynamics in its vicinity.
Dr. Paul Passy, the Principal Investigator (PI from French side) of the PERIDOT Research grant at the University of Paris, France, commended the proactive steps taken by Pakistan, promoting research in pursuit of sustainable power production in water sector.
