Lahore, Pakistan – October 14, 2024 – Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) proudly hosted the Pre-Match Ceremony for the inaugural PCB-HEC Women’s University Cricket Championship 2024. This historic collaboration between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) marks a significant step forward in promoting women's cricket across universities in Pakistan.

The event, organized under the esteemed supervision of Professor Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Vice Chancellor of LCWU, took place at the university's premises. The ceremony was graced by Ms. Tanya Malik, Chairperson of the PCB Women’s Wing, who served as the chief guest. Alongside her were Mr. Junaid Zia, Senior General Manager of PCB, and Mr. Javed Ali Mehman, Incharge of the Higher Education Commission, who joined as honored guests.

Dr. Sumera Sattar, Director of Sports at LCWU, extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, managers, coaches, and university players, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in promoting cricket among women athletes.

“This championship is a wonderful initiative by the Higher Education Commission, aimed at empowering female athletes and enhancing their skills in cricket,” said Dr. Sattar.

The PCB-HEC Women’s University Cricket Championship commenced on October 14, 2024, with a total of 22 universities from across Pakistan participating. Matches will be held at several venues in Lahore, including COMSATS University, University of Engineering and Technology, Government College University Lahore, and Lahore College for Women University.

The championship aims to provide female students with a platform to showcase their cricketing talents and foster a spirit of healthy competition among universities.
