This year marks the 26th Anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign. Over the years, the campaign has raised awareness of the devastating impact that Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) has on women and children, and the social fabric of our society.
The 2024 theme is “Come Together, Act Now.” November 25 was chosen for International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in memory of the three Mirabel sisters, political activists murdered in the Dominican Republic in the 1960s.
The United Nations Secretary-General launched the Unite by 2030 to End Violence against Women campaign in 2008, with orange representing a bright future – one that is free from violence against women and girls.
