On August 5, 2025, a team from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) visited Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) to discuss and initiate collaborative efforts in the domain of water conservation and sustainable water management.
During the visit, Dr. M. Imran Azam, Manager, WWF, delivered an insightful presentation on water stewardship and conservation strategies. In a generous gesture, WWF pledged PKR 1.5 million to support institutional development at LCWU in the area of Water Stewardship and Replenishment.
The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, who welcomed the initiative and emphasized LCWU’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility. The discussion was both productive and encouraging, with both institutions agreeing to explore formal and informal avenues of collaboration, including a potential Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The Department of Software Engineering at LCWU also expressed its readiness to provide technical and software support for WWF’s ongoing initiatives. Prof. Dr. Mohsin Mirza, Chairperson of Software Engineering, was nominated as the focal person for this partnership. He proposed the development of a smart institutional water management system to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of this collaborative effort.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi reaffirmed LCWU’s dedication to impactful academic engagement and extended sincere appreciation for WWF’s continued support and commitment. Together, LCWU and WWF aim to create meaningful solutions for water management that can serve as a model for academic institutions across the country.
