The Faculty of Islamic & Oriental Learning at LCWU organized a special webinar to commemorate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day. The session was attended by chairpersons and faculty members from various departments.
The guest speaker, Air Vice Marshal (R) Sajjid Habib, highlighted the distinguished role of Pakistan’s Armed Forces particularly the Pakistan Air Force—in safeguarding the nation. He spoke in detail about their professionalism and achievements, including the successful execution of Operation Binyan ul Marsoos on May 7, 2025.
In her welcome address, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Vice Chancellor LCWU, remarked that Independence Day is more than a date on the calendar—it is the heartbeat of a free nation. She reflected on the sacrifices of those who fought for a homeland where people could live with dignity, faith, and hope. She also expressed gratitude to AVM (R) Sajjid Habib for sharing valuable insights on the meaning of freedom and its defence.
The discussion underscored that freedom is not merely a gift, but a sacred trust—a responsibility demanding the collective commitment of both men and women. History bears witness to the pivotal role women have played in Pakistan’s journey—from Fatima Jinnah’s steadfast support to Quaid-e-Azam, to Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan’s tireless social work, to the countless mothers and sisters who endured untold hardships during the independence struggle.
The webinar concluded with a reaffirmation that Pakistani women today are breaking barriers in science, politics, business, education, and the arts—proving that when women rise, the nation soars. True independence means creating a Pakistan where every girl has access to education, every woman is free to pursue her aspirations, and gender is a source of strength rather than limitation.
