Department of Zoology

Mission

The aim of graduate and post graduate degree programs in Zoology is to train students for advance studies and develop human resource in recently emerging technological and inter disciplinary fields such as Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biodiversity, Wildlife and Conservations etc. The objectives are: 

·       To impart knowledge about the advances in major disciplines of Zoology.

·       To teach different methods of exploration, investigation, organization of data and its utilization in practical life.

·       To equip students with the knowledge and skills for better planning and management of animal resources, environment, health, medicine, agriculture and population in the country. 

·       To prepare and train students for advanced studies and specialization in recently emerging technological and interdisciplinary fields such as Genetic Engineering, Environmental Science, Biodiversity, Wildlife and Conservation etc. After completing the degree students will be able to apply knowledge to the respective fields more effectively. 

·       To develop the scientific attitude and demonstrate professional skills in teaching, research and managerial positions in wide range of professions in national and international organizations. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The learning objectives of the Department are to:
 

·       Acquire comprehensive knowledge of animals across diverse areas within Zoological Sciences. 

·       Develop proficiency in various research methodologies, exploration techniques, data organization and its practical application in real-world scenarios within the context of Zoological Sciences.

·       Equip students with the necessary skills and expertise for pursuing advanced studies and specialization in emerging interdisciplinary fields such as Aquaculture, Biodiversity, Conservation Biology, Endocrinology, Entomology, Genetics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Parasitology, Physiology and Wildlife. 


LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the completion of the degrees students will be able to: 

·       Demonstrate the ability to answer relevant critical questions regarding animals and their ecological associations, as well as effectively locating, comprehending and summarizing pertinent information on zoological topics. 

·       Successfully prepare for and compete requirements in job placement opportunities. 

·       Possess a broad understanding of utilizing various instrumental techniques effectively and develop capabilities to provide remedial steps in specific areas of concern.
