A Prestigious Celebration of Academic Achievement at LCWU’s 21st Convocation

The 21st Convocation of Lahore College for Women University was held in a grand and prestigious manner, celebrating the academic excellence and achievements of thousands of graduating students. The Chief Guest of the convocation was Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, an alumna of LCWU herself, whose return to her alma mater made the event highly emotional and memorable. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Education Minsiter Rana Sikandar Hayat, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Secretary Higher Education Ghulam Fareed, members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs), senior education officials, university faculty, academicians, alumni members and parents. The presence of alumni added a special emotional touch to the occasion as graduates celebrated their achievements at an institution that has empowered generations of women in Pakistan.

The Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi warmly welcomed the guests and presented the university’s annual performance report, highlighting LCWU’s remarkable achievements in academics, research, innovation, digital transformation, women empowerment, sports, and international collaborations. She appreciated the continued support of the Government of Punjab, faculty members, alumni, and students in strengthening the university’s legacy of women’s education and empowerment.

The event reflected the spirit of dedication, hard work, and perseverance demonstrated by the students throughout their academic journey.

She stated that women in Pakistan are proving their abilities in education, technology, leadership, research, administration, and sports, and emphasized that educated women are the true strength of a progressive society. Recalling her own memories associated with LCWU, she termed her return to the university an emotional and proud moment.

Referring to the spirit of “Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” she praised the unity and resilience of the Pakistani nation and said that Pakistan’s future lies in the hands of its youth.

She announced financial support and development projects, including a state-of-the-art girls’ hostel, a modern Tech Tower, upgraded digital labs, Indoor Sports Gymnasium, and other initiatives aimed at empowering female students through education and technology.
