LCWU Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day


Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Lahore College for Women University on 10th February to draw the world’s attention to the plight of the people of India-held Kashmir who have been facing lockdown and curfew over six months. Department of Mass Communication Lahore College of Women University was the organizer of the seminar. Students of LCWU chanted slogans in support of the struggle of Kashmires for the right to self-determination.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Kashmir Committee Pakistan Mr. Fakhar Imam said the occupied valley had been turned into the world’s biggest prison. He said the day was not far off when India will have to end illegal occupation of Kashmir. Pakistan without Kashmir would not be complete. Kashmir is in our DNA. We are grateful for the support provided by Turkey, China, Malaysia and Iran on the Kashmir issue. The Kashmir issue is not political or military but human. Students should carry forward the mission of Burhan Wani through social media.. We will stay with the Kashmiri brothers till our last breath. Vice Chancellor Lahore University for Women, Prof. Dr Bushra Mirza said: “On August 5,2019 India absolved itself of the last pretence of civility and justice by trying to deprive the Kashmiri people of their very identity. Through its illegal and unilateral actions, India directly contravened the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions and tried to further brutalize the Kashmiri people and take additional measures to deny them their legitimate right to self- determination as promised by the international community through those resolutions.

The role of educational institutions is very important. We will continue to hold such programs in the future. Dr. Anjum Zia, Head of the Department of Mass Communication said that the Kashmir issue is not only a problem of Kashmir but of the whole world. Kashmires have been in prison for 190 days. Suppressing their voice is the culmination of oppression. It is our responsibility to awaken the sleeping conscience of the world nations. We have to expose the Indian atrocities.

Addressing the ceremony, Member Provincial Assembly and Kashmir Committee Punjab Uzma Kardaar said that the youth is the future of Pakistan. Kashmir is the backbone of Pakistan. If Kashmiris are oppressed then we suffer. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has called himself the Ambassador of Kashmir. Today the ugly face of the Modi government of India has been exposed. All minorities in India are unsafe. It is a matter of pride for me that I am a member of the Kashmir Committee. ISPR documentary on Kashmir's struggle were showcased.
Senior journalist and analyst Sajjad Mir said that the struggle of Kashmir is not new but it was before the formation of Pakistan. We celebrate the days of solidarity with Kashmir but Kashmires has not been released yet. The Kashmir war has gone too far. Modi raised the Kashmir issue with his movement. Senior journalist Salman Ghani said Imran Khan not only exposed the Kashmir issue on the floor of the General Assembly but also exposed Modi's crooked face. Human rights organizations around the world are speaking in favor of Kashmir.
