Department of Persian LCWU organized a 2 days webinar and calligraphy art exhibition, Titled ''Life, Hope & Persian Literature'' on 21st &22nd July 2020.
The objective of the webinar was to give the message of hope in the current pandemic of Covid-19 which has engulfed the whole world in suffering and sorrows.
While speaking at the Webinar Dr. Hossein Salimi Chancellor Tabatabai University Iran said that webinar could be a starting point for more cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. ''Persian is a Language of hope and love for humanity it is just like a lifeboat during the crises of Corona Virus'' he added.
Addressing at the Webinar Prof Dr. Bushra Mirza Vice-Chancellor Lahore College for Women University says we don’t want to see and leave the faces of our young generation grieved and depress, that is why we organized this webinar. ''As Science and Medicine fails in defeating the disease, hope and faith wins. So the topic is very much relevant and timely executed'' she added. Dr. Bushra Mirza also dmired Persian literature, which is full of hope and positivity. The webinar also included a calligraphy exhibition on the idea of verse of Holly Quran “With every hardship there is ease”. Prof Dr Bushra Mirza on the occasion of the exhibition appreciated the artwork done by Persian students. She declared it a feast of eyes and spirit. She appreciated the efforts of the Persian Department in organizing the webinar.
Host of the webinar & Chairperson Prof Dr Faleeha Zahra Kazmi in her address explained that Persian literature, over the centuries, have played a significant role in bringing people out of their grieves and sorrows to the light of life and hope, and as corona has no remedy, hope can work more than medicine.
Guests speakers, Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar Pro VC Punjab University Lahore, Dr Muhammad Javad Dehghani President of ISC & RICEST Iran, Prof Dr Iqbal Shahid Former Dean GCU, Dr. Ayegun Alizade Associate Professor Azerbaijan, Dr Nasibeh Moazeni Germany, Dr Muhammad Safeer COD Persian Department NUML, Ali Akbar Razai Fard Dr Naimtullah Iranzada Associate Professor ATU Iran, Prof Dr Maryam Hussaini Alzahra University-Tehran as well as Professors of Persian from numerous Universities of the world such as Iran, Senegal, South Korea, Serbia, Azerbaijan and Germany also participated in the webinar.
Participants quoted different verses and sayings from Persian literature expressing hope for a bright future. It was a matter of pride for Persian department Lahore College for Women University that among the speakers, there was Maryam Naqvi Ex-student of LCWU who is currently studying in by Iran on scholarship. The webinar ended with a code that hope is the real vaccine against Corona Virus.
