Webinar on Breast Cancer Awareness

The department of Gender and Development Studies LCWU and Shaukat Khanum Hospital organized a webinar on Breast Cancer Awareness on 18th of October 2021. It was conducted by the faculty of GDS in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Hospital and the following were the speakers invited to speak:

•         Prof Dr. Bushra Mirza (Vice-Chancellor, LCWU)
•         Dr. Sehrish Fatima (Medical Officer, Shaukat Khanum Hospital)
•         Dr. Uzma Ashiq Khan (Incharge, Dept. of Gender & Development Studies)

The Webinar was hosted by Siddiqa Ahtesham from Shaukat Khanum Hospital and the welcome note was presented by Dr. Uzma Ashiq Khan, Incharge Gender & Development Studies.

The webinar focused on the importance of early detection of breast cancer, facts, risk factors, symptoms and prevention. Dr. Uzma Ashiq Khan welcomed all the participants and shared her views about the importance of the webinar. Dr. Sehrish Fatima, the medical officer from Shaukat Khanum Hospital addresses the webinar as an expert and shared the details about the importance of awareness of breast cancer as it has become the most common cancer worldwide. She shared some valuable information about the early detection, incidence, myths and discussed the risk factors, symptoms of breast cancer. She presented different options for the prevention of the disease which was very helpful for everyone. Later, respected vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza congratulated the organizers and shared the importance of this webinar. She also shared her views about the factors and prevention of cancer and the importance of prevention being better than cure. In the last, the Questions and Answer Session was organized where the audience asked questions from the expert Dr. Sehrish Fatima.
