LCWU 17th Convocation

The Lahore College for Women University held 17th convocation for the session 2021. The ceremony witnessed the award of degrees to all graduating students, robs to PhD graduates, presentation of the awards and medals to high performing students. Degrees were awarded to female students of different faculties in two separate sessions of the convocation. Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Governor Punjab presided over the first session of the 17th Convocation as the Chief Guest. Addressing the function, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that Lahore College for Women University is the best women's university in Pakistan.



It is an honor for the Member of the House of Lords, Noushina Mubarak, to be conferred the honorary degree of PhD by the LCWU. Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that Lahore College for Women University has produced capable women who are playing an important role in the development of the country. Vice-Chancellor LCWU is doing a commendable job in making Lahore College for Women University a standard institution, He added.
 Vice-Chancellor LCWU Prof. Dr Bushra Mirza while addressing the session said that Lahore College for Women University has the distinction of being one of the oldest and largest women's universities in Pakistan. LCWU ranks 6th out of 36 universities in Pakistan which is the impact of the institution's 2021 ranking, she said.

LCWU is among the top 200 universities out of 996 institutions in the world in terms of quality education. Prof. Dr Bushra Mirza highlighted that Lahore College for Women University's Kala Shah Kaku Campus will soon be operational. Students from Kamonki, Sheikhupura, Narwal, Gujranwala and other adjoining areas will have access to quality education. ‘’Lahore College for Women University is going to make 100 years of history on May 5, 2022. In its centenary history, the University has rewarded Pakistan with the services of professional women who are showcasing their talents in their respective fields, she said.


For the first time in the 100-year history of Lahore College for Women University, an honorary degree of PhD was awarded to member British House of Lords Baroness Mubarak in recognition of his outstanding services as a member of the GSP Plus Monitoring Group of the International Trade Committee for the Renewal of GSP Plus status for Pakistan.

In the 17th convocation of Lahore College for Women University, 14 degrees of PhD. 2,04 degrees of B.Com, B.E, B Architecture, B.Sc., B.F.A., Doctor of Pharmacy were distributed to female students.
630 female students of Government Graduate Samanabad College for Women, 599 female students of Government Graduate Cooper Road College for Women and 452 female students of Government Graduate Gulberg College were also awarded degrees. A total of 818 female students were awarded medals and various honours at the 17th Convocation. 1 female student was awarded Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal, 68 female students were awarded Academic Gold Medals, 67 female students were awarded Silver Medals.



Justice (retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal was the chief guest of the second session. Dr Amjad Saqib, Executive Director, Akhuwat Foundation also attended the convocation as the guest of honour. Senior journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, senior analyst Salman Abid, LCWU syndicate members, vice-chancellors of other universities, Lahore College alumni, deans, directors, heads of departments and faculty members along with Students also attended the function.
