The first Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meeting was held in the Department of Computer Science to discuss the academic roadmap and engage the computer science industry in curriculum development. The aim was to increase students' job prospects through industry-led projects, workshops, and other related activities. Dr. Saima Farhan, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, convened the meeting, which was attended by faculty members from the computer science department, as well as directors and CEOs from various software companies.
Dr. Zawar Qayyum from ArbiSoft, Mr. Ahrar Naqvi from Ebryx, Mr. Waqar Bukharee from Programmers Force, Dr. Wajahat Qazi from COMSATS, Mr. Ahmed Haleem Khan from Cheety, and Ms. Aroosa Nasir from Beaconhouse Technology participated in the meeting. They discussed the curriculum developed in accordance with the guidelines of HEC and NCEAC. The members were encouraged to initiate joint industry and academia projects, particularly aimed at facilitating female students in gaining awareness about industry trends and developing technical skills to enhance their job prospects.
The board unanimously agreed to develop a yearly activity calendar for LCWU CS students. The calendar would include workshops, technical training sessions, industry visits, summer programs, and jointly-led industry projects. These activities will not only provide an opportunity for female students to learn industry practices but will also prepare them to become active members of the global IT industry.
