20th November 2024, Wednesday: The Persian Department and Urdu Department of LCWU jointly organised an International Seminar on Allama Iqbal's poetry and philosophy.
A one day International Fikr e Iqbal seminar was organised by Iqbal Society of Persian department with collaboration of Majlis e Iqbal of Urdu Department Faculty of Islamic and Oriental learning, Lahore college for women University Lahore. Students as well as faculty members of both the departments⁰⁰0⁸ participated in the program. Professor Dr. Ali Bayat and Professor Dr. Kaoosi Nazad from Urdu department Tehran University graced the function with their presence.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Holy Quran by BS Persian then Dr. Azmat Rubab Assistant Professor Urdu Department welcomed and thanked the honorable guest and talked about the importance of Iqbal's ideology specially "Khudi" for the students. Dr Kausi Nazad highlighted the fact that how Iqbal took inspiration from prominent Persian poets and has mentioned them in his Urdu as well as Persian poetry. Professor Dr. Ali Bayat while talking on the event threw light on the popularity of Iqbal in Iran during his life and afterwards. He also paid tribute to Dr. Abdul Hamid Irfani and others who introduced Iqbal in Iran and emphasized on the translation of the books and articles written and published in Iran about Iqbal and his poetry .
Then Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental learning and Chairperson Persian department while appreciating the organisers of the program thanked the honorable guests for their participation and Worthy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Uzma Qureshi for always being kind enough to support and encouragement in organising such programs. She also welcomed the idea of Professor Doctor Ali Bayat regarding translation of research work done on Iqbal and his poetry in Iran and expressed determination to take up the project for both Persian and Urdu departments. She also expressed hope that such academic collaborations will play an effective role in strengthening bilateral mutual relations. Students also presented Kalam e Iqbal in a beautiful melodious way and amused the audience. In the end Souvenirs were presented to the honourable guests.The programme was followed by a delightful tea.
