Continuous Professional Development Workshop on “Overcurrent Protection: Configuration and Testing of Numerical Relays” organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and PEC, 7th October 2024 

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) continued its 2024 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Workshop Series with its second Workshop, held on 7th October 2024. The workshop, titled “Overcurrent Protection: Configuration and Testing of Numerical Relays,” featured Engr. Mubasher Ahmed, Team Lead Field Services at EPESOL Pvt. Ltd., as the resource person. 

Engr. Mubasher Ahmed, an accomplished electrical engineer with over 22 years of experience in testing and commissioning high-voltage power systems, delivered an insightful session. His expertise in electrical protection systems, relay configuration, and troubleshooting, acquired through his work in countries such as Malaysia, Nigeria, Yemen, Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of modern overcurrent protection practices. With both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, Engr. Mubasher shared real-world experiences from leading complex projects across various regions. 

The workshop was attended by a diverse group of professionals and experts from renowned universities and industries, including Ayk Pvt. Ltd., Government College University, Faisalabad, Bahria Town, Karachi, University of the Punjab, Lahore, The Superior University, Lahore, IEECE, PU, and HUBCO.

The Held in the IT Conference Room at LCWU, the workshop served as a platform for knowledge sharing and professional development, engaging both students and industry professionals. 

The interactive session included practical demonstrations on the configuration and testing of numerical relays, encouraging active participation and discussions among attendees.

Dr. Sadia Murawwat, Chairperson of the Department of Electrical Engineering, concluded the event by presenting a souvenir to Engr. Mubasher Ahmed in appreciation of his contribution to the workshop. The session ended with a group photo of participants, marking the successful completion of the second workshop in the CPD series, focused on bridging academic knowledge with practical industry skills for engineers and students.
