Lahore, Pakistan - The Department of Gender and Development Studies at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), in collaboration with the Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB), Government of Punjab, organized a vibrant celebration in anticipation of International Women's Day. The event, titled Femme Fiesta under SheWins, took place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Iqra Auditorium, LCWU.
The event started with opening remarks from Dr. Uzma Ashiq Khan, Incharge Department of Gender & Development Studies. The esteemed Director of ORIC, Prof. Dr. Faiza, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the university's commitment to championing gender equality and women empowerment. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, along with distinguished guests including representatives from Faysal Bank, Safe City, and others, shared inspiring thoughts and perspectives on the importance of recognizing and celebrating women's achievements. Food Vloger Amna Ashraf shared her struggle for success and Ms. Humaira, a yoga fitness trainer, shared the ways to a healthy lifestyle.
The event also saw the presentation of certificates to the current batch of graduates, acknowledging their dedication and accomplishments. A joyous cake-cutting ceremony added to the festive spirit of the day, symbolizing unity and celebration. Furthermore, the event featured various stalls organized by LCWU Alumni, NFTP, Faysal Bank, e-rozgar, and PITB, showcasing opportunities and initiatives aimed at empowering women in various spheres of life.
Femme Fiesta served as a platform to honor the contributions of women and promote gender inclusivity, reflecting LCWU's ongoing efforts to create an environment of support and empowerment for all members of the community.
