ORIC LCWU Signs MoU with Shams Power to Foster Renewable Energy Research and Industry Collaboration
On March 14, 2025, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shams Power to promote joint efforts in renewable energy research, student internships, and sustainable energy solutions.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi (Vice Chancellor, LCWU) and Mr. Irteza Obaid (COO, Shams Power), marking a significant step toward strengthening academia-industry ties.
Key witnesses included Ms. Minahil Rafique and Ms. Uswah Muttehira from Shams Power; Prof. Dr. Sadia Murawwat (CoD DEE) and Dr. Faiza Saleem (Director ORIC) from LCWU; Dr. Faiza Iftikhar (Senior Manager Industrial Linkages and Technology Transfer) and Ms. Momina from ORIC; and Dr. Taskeen Raza, Mr. Sajjad Rabbani, and Dr. Ahlam Jameel from DEE.
Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi highlighted the vital importance of academia-industry collaboration for sustainable development, while Mr. Irteza Obaid reaffirmed Shams Power’s commitment to supporting clean energy initiatives in Pakistan.
This partnership aims to bridge academic research with practical application, supporting the country’s digital economy and contributing to Pakistan’s energy security and sustainability goals.
