The “Geography Department at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU)” successfully hosted a webinar titled “Seismicity and Its Impacts on Reservoirs” on April 10th, 2025, under the "PERIDOT Phase IX Research Mobility Grant".
This insightful session, part of the *Franco-Pakistani Hubert Curie Partnership (PHC) Program, brought together leading experts to discuss the "Role of Seismicity in Sustainable Development and Reservoir Management".
- Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Head of the Geography Department at LCWU and **Principal Investigator (PI) of the PERIDOT Project*, moderated the session.
- Muhammad Qasim Mirza, Section Head (Seismology/Engineering Geophysics) at NESPAK, delivered a talk on "Seismic Hazard Assessment in Sustainable Development" with a case study.
- Zahid Raza, Director (Seismology) at the Tarbela Dam Project, shared insights on "Seismicity and Seismic Instrumentation at Tarbela Dam".
The webinar provided a multidisciplinary perspective on seismic challenges in water infrastructure, highlighting innovative assessment techniques and mitigation strategies. The discussions were particularly valuable for researchers, policymakers, and engineers working on dam safety and seismic hazard management.
