CPD Workshop on Advanced Engineering Design for Photovoltaic Power Plants

Continuous Professional Development Workshop on “Advanced Engineering Design for Photovoltaic Power Plants” organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and PEC

 

The Department of Electrical Engineering, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) successfully organized an online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshop on “Advanced Engineering Design for Photovoltaic Power Plants” on 7th November 2025. The workshop was conducted by Engr. Rashid Iqbal, Head of Engineering at Shams Power Limited, who brings over 20 years of experience in renewable energy, engineering, and automation.

During the session, Engr. Rashid shared practical insights and technical knowledge on the design, planning, and optimization of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Topics covered included site assessment, system modeling, energy yield estimation, and best practices for maximizing efficiency and sustainability in solar projects. The workshop also highlighted recent technological advancements in PV systems and discussed challenges and opportunities in the renewable energy sector in Pakistan.

The workshop was attended by a diverse group of professionals from leading institutions and organizations, including FAST-NUCES, ICC Pvt. Ltd, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Paradise Energy, University of the Punjab, UET Lahore, and Power Planners International Pvt. Ltd.

Ms. Rimsha Musharraf, Assistant PEB Coordinator at LCWU, expressed her gratitude to the participants for their active engagement and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing among engineers. She noted that the workshop provided a valuable platform for professional development, enabling participants to update their technical knowledge and gain practical guidance from an industry expert.
